The survey research community is deeply saddened by the death of Harry O’Neill on September 11, 2008 at age 79. O’Neill was a distinguished opinion researcher, industry leader, and a highly regarded mentor. His championing of ethics and disclosure led him to chair or participate in virtually every major professional standards committee. O’Neill's colleagues recognized his many contributions with numerous accolades including the AAPOR Award for lifetime achievement.
